EVA Training

We are offering skill building opportunities months April-Oct. You will be able to register for skill building sessions either for the specific skill or through our Skill Academy. We like to open the skill work trainings for a wide range of the grades and skill abilities because all training is done individually and your reps and work are not affected by others around you (serving, jump serving, hitting, setting, passing).

Volleyball is a sport that uses explosive power, short bursts of explosive energy to move and jump for a duration of the match (about 1h, in increments of 7-15 seconds which is a length of an average rally). Being fast and explosive is a great advantage when 2 athletes are compared in the same skill (and this applies to any position in volleyball).

To develop as great volleyball players, we will utilize this training to work on explosiveness through plyos exercises where muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time, with the goal of increasing power by using activates like jumping, hoping, throwing. This speed-agility-jumping program will have the best results for those who can attend regularly, but we allow individual Sunday registration because we know life happens and we might be unavailable occasionally.

Let's Volley - FALL REGISTRATION is OPEN

Join our Let's Volley 4 week session and fall in love with the game. This is a great way for all the young 4-6th graders to learn, improve and fall in love with the game as all the instruction will have to do with building the game knowledge and the understanding of the simple volleyball system.

  1. Play with purpose - develop the ball into play, 3-touches
  2. Understand the system in place: who is playing what role so not everyone is running for every ball
  3. Designate passing target and setter responsibilities

Learn from our great EVA coaches who are game and skill knowledgeable.

Let's Volley :
Session 1 Dates: Aug 13, 20, 27, Sept 3 @ Summerwood Sports
Join late $40 discount will apply

Mini Little Spikers Camp - REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Our favorite summer camp is now offered in 6 mini sessions over the course of the fall:

  • Sun 8/18
  • Wed 8/28
  • Tue 9/10
  • Wed 9/25
  • Sun 9/29
  • Wed 10/9

Location for all Mini Little Spikers Camp is Agape gym (701 Napa Valley Dr, Little Rock)
    Time for all: 5:30-7:30 pm
    Price per mini camp: $30
Description: This is the perfect mini camp experience for all young volleyball players 1-6th grade.  We will learn VB skills and the skill mechanics through fun movement and activity encouraging hand-eye coordination development, movement and ball pursuit. Main skill introduced and worked on: overhand serve, downball hitting (bow and arrow), approach spike, platform passing and setting motion.

Focus is on FUNdamentals with high involvement for more fun and opportunity to get better and game-like vb drills/games in small groups (2-on-2 or 3-on-3) on third of the court.
In this camp we use Volley Light balls. For young players small group-small court games provide many opportunities for improvement and fun!  Being constantly involved is more fun and it gives you more chances to make big improvements in the course of 3 days of the camp.  With young players and vb beginners we do not play full court games because it's not enough learning going on with 12 players and 1 volleyball at a time.  Volleyball is fun and our goal is to have your child enjoy volleyball and fall in love with the sport.
Each session offers skill mechanics learning along with understanding the ball movement in a volleyball game, and decision making. We teach concept of 3-touch play (pass the ball to the setter, set the ball to the hitter, hit the ball over the net) and have a lot of fun in small group games where you are in position to learn quickly by involvement.

For 5th - 12th grade

Each skill training is done in individual reps so wide range of grades and skill levels is able to attend. Your individual serving or hitting reps DO NOT depend on anyone around you.  Do your own mindful reps and improve.

Serving

This is the skill that makes the most impact on the game in the early years of playing volleyball. If you have a great servers on the young team, you can win a lot of games.
In this skill session we teach the keys/mechanics of serving a down float. We teach ball, hand, and feet position. We work on details impacting the serve (point of contact on the ball, arm movement, position on the toss). Along with many reps in serving, we teach the tactic of serve.
Join us and get better at serving!

Jump Float Serving

Just like in serving down float, in this skill session we give a great deal of detailed instruction to learn a jump float serve. There are several different ways to jump float serve (3 step or 4 step, one hand toss or two hand toss)...we cover it all to find the jump float serve that best fits you.

This is a great and impactful skill for server of any age and skill level. Learning to be dynamic server and create flat trajectory at the higher point of contact can change how you impact the game.

Passing

Passing is a skill that dictates the level of volleyball that your team is able to play. How well the team pass sets the tone for what they are able to do offensively.
In this skill session we teach how to create ultimate passing platform, importance of angles, different footwork for different kinds of defensive transition and passing.

Come get mindful rep in passing to learn USA volleyball passing cues for movement, decision making, and passing itself.

Hitting plus Transition

Everyone loves to hit! It's a very complex skill that requires a great deal of repetition and understanding of timing: what step am I on at the time when setter is setting the ball.

In this session we focus on teaching different hitting situations that player in under during the game.  We teach 4-step approach and 4-step turn and run transition for the most efficient way to prepare to hit.
We will go over following situations and footwork hitting from both ends of the net OH and RS:

  • No pass - go to hit
  • Block then transition to hit
  • Free/Down ball pull of the net then transition to hit

Hitting

In this session of hitting only we focus on teaching and getting reps in arm load to start off as it greatly impacts your ability to hit with power. We teach angles to approach the ball to depending on what size you are hitting from and if you are right or left hand dominant. As we progress through the session we continue to expand the scope of hitter to understand:
1. Approach footwork
2. Angle of entry
3. Arm Load
4. Arm follow through

Setting

We love working on setting knowing how much it impacts the team's offensive ability.

In setting skill trainings we work on hand position, setting footwork in system and out of system, point of contact, hand extension, dynamic pivot footwork. You will love setting sessions and the informative reps that it provides.
