EVA Beach Academy

We are excited to start our 5th year of EVA Beach Academy! We expand our program officially to the sand the summer during the pandemic at what seamed to be very difficult time and we ended up having a blast with June/July sessions! Over the last few years, we had EVA coaches train in sand and support many athletes in the area, but in the summer of 2020 we made it official with EVA Beach Academy!
Our indoor program has been very successful and competitive nationally, so our goal is to do the same with our EVA Beach Academy.

Our main inspiration is providing opportunities to young players in the sport of beach volleyball as we carry over our program's culture from indoor to outdoor. We are looking forward to providing positive, challenging and fun learning environment as we want players to love and excel in the knowledge of the sport. There are countless benefits of training and playing sand volleyball that transfer to the indoor game so anyone who wants to enjoy sand vb, learn about the game, and to improve their skill is welcome to join. Our program will always have two levels (beginner/intermediate and advanced) and within those levels athletes will be groups based on their skill level (for ex/if there are 3 advanced courts those will be ranked from top 1 to bottom 3 to continue to provide the most competitive and the most suitable learning environment for all athletes participating.

Our coaches collectively have many years of experience in the sand. We have USA vb Beach CAP certified coach and will continue to advance our certifications as we are constantly improving and following USA and FIVB developments and research in the sport. Among our beach coaches there is a lot of knowledge of the game to be shared with our community and we could not be more excited.

Program synopsis

In hour and half training, twice a week over the course of the assigned session our goal is to get better in beach vb skills and game while also improve our physical conditioning from training in the sand.
The focus will be on teaching the skill, game tactics as they are so different from indoor game, and the game rules. One of the best benefits of moving back to indoor game in the fall after training in the sand is the endurance developed from moving/jumping in the sand while it also has positive impact on our vertical jump.

Part of the training will be developing skills pertaining specifically to the beach game and  part will be focused on teaching the game and game tactics/knowledge. During both of those parts we are working on conditioning/endurance and developing vertical jump.

Frequently asked question:

Do I need to have a partner to sign up?
No, having a partner for the training session is not mandatory. Coaches will be assessing best partner matches and will provide recommendations to anyone who wants to compete further in any of the sand tournaments (given they take place this summer). To be able to attend the training you do not have to have a partner. However, if you do have playing partner, you are welcome to sign up together and spend majority of the time with that player working on the skills and game.

Weather Policy

We would monitor weather the day of the training for any potential inclement weather and thunderstorms. Knowing that we have players who travel from different towns to get to the training we would need you to watch for email messages the day of the training if there is any threat of inclement weather. We would do our best if possible to make up missed/canceled trainings caused by the bad weather provided the availability of the sand courts.
