Positional Camps

SETTING

Setting is such technical skill and greatly impacts the level of the game the team can play.  In these SETTING positional camps, we will work on setting through emphasis on these setting keys:
1. Point of Contact
2. Hand Position / Shape
3. Hand Extension
4. Different Types of Footwork (ball in system, ball of system, reverse the flow of the ball, ball passes on setter's left side, ...)

Encouraged is to attend all or as many as you can attend as you can greatly benefit from the reps. Noone has ever worked too much on any of the skills.

DEFENSE

It's said that 'defense wins games' and we want to spend time working on all things defense in these positional camps.

Some of the ingredients of a great defender are:
1. Great reading skill (reading game cues helps you be in the right place with more opportunity to dig - anticipating vs. reacting
2. Great hustle / pursuit (going for all the balls in defense and being fearless will result in more opportunities to dig). Great effort at all times.
3. Great skill of digging while using platform, hands, basically all parts of the body
4. Having lots of tools in your digging toolbox: emergency digs

  • Pancake
  • Sprawl
  • Tomahawk
  • Fist
  • Hand dig
  • One arm dig

Campers are encouraged is to attend all or as many as you can attend as you can greatly benefit from the reps.  Noone has ever worked too much on any of the skills.
