This is a great camp for all the players who are good in basic skill but are still mastering the game knowledge and understanding of the transition. We will teach the game knowledge and decision making through playing in 6-on-6 format majority of the camp while part of the camp we'll working on game knowledge and skill through smaller groups on full court. In this game situations camp the focus will be on the following:
We will cover many game situations for decision making (how to handle out of system ball, what to see to learn how to read the game, eye work of the volleyball player “ball-setter-ball-hitter”). This is for all players who have been mastering individual volleyball skills but wish to elevate their overall game knowledge and understanding. Each day the first part of the camp will be spent working on skill and part of the game in small groups while second part of the camp each day will be spent working on game understanding (teaching base to transition movement in all situations: free ball, down ball, block to transition on all parts of the net, serve receive, out of system).
Attending multiple camps is encouraged because learning game concepts and team transition is complex, so in years of doing this camp we see the best results with those attending multiple sessions.
Our coaching philosophy in the camp is based on positive reinforcement (we want to catch you do things right and encourage you to keep learning and giving your best effort). Along with volleyball skills and game understanding we use opportunities to teach about: being a great teammate, showing great sportsmanship, being coachable, giving your best each time... Two courts are in use for each session and attendance is limited to provide a great camp experience for all campers in attendance while giving them the best opportunity to learn and have fun.
Price per camp: $175
Suggested Skill Level for Pass.Set.Hit. camps: Intermediate skill level is good fit for this camp. This camp is generally for 7th - 8th graders who are still learning/advancing their game knowledge as a whole and improving game elements (transition and decision making) and for 6th graders who are more advanced than Little Spikers level (just note that regular weight ball is used for this camp, not a volley light). Any 9th graders who are not ready for the next camp level Volley James are also welcome to attend (email me at eckartvolleyball@gmail.com)
